Our future with China
2008 April 3
The problem with the scaremongering in today’s Washington Post is that it assumes the United States will have a permanently antagonistic relationship with China, something which doesn’t need to be the case. It’s easy to imagine a near-future where the United States and China have a somewhat friendlier relationship.
Ironically by fostering suspicion, the Washington Post (and newspapers like it) make it more likely that policy makers and the public will view China with not a small level of distrust.
