Tony Perkins is on Anderson Cooper 360 complaining about the California ruling giving full marriage rights to LGBT couples, and Dan Savage (of Savage Love) is mopping the floor with him. I knew Perkins was a no talent hack, but I’m actually surprised by how shockingly dishonest he is. Every sentence was seasoned with baseless assertions and willful misinterpretation of sociological data (Savage even says that you could debunk Perkins’ claims with a five second Google search).
It was fun to watch Cooper and Savage clown Perkins, but I was disappointed when neither of them challenged Perkins claim that same-sex parenting harms children. As far as I know, there isn’t a lick of evidence to suggest that same-sex parenting harms children. There is however, plenty of work which suggests that single parent households can negatively affect children, and it seems like Perkins was referencing that but extending the results to same-sex parenting.
Stay classy Tony, stay classy.

Calling Tony Perkins a no-talent hack is a bit harsh …
… to no-talent hacks.
I’m looking forward to the day that we find out that he’s really a radical leftist, homosexual polygamist, and just trying to make Evangelical conservatives look like idiots by his appearances and columns.
Like any of the other hacks, he has an audience because he speaks to people’s prejudices. He doesn’t, however, do a good job of presenting actual facts — he asserts opinions as if they were facts, and I find that he is seldom more than half-informed on any topic. I think he’s the kind of guy who reads the headlines of the newspaper and then decides that he knows EVERYTHING about the story.

You didn’t watch the whole piece? Savage did adress the parenting thing quickly at the very end.

Yeah, Tony Perkins needs to stick to doing the weather on the Fox station in DC!
Wait … I think we’re talking about different Tony Perkinses.

I thought you were referring to my favorite weatherman Tony Perkins who’s on Fox 5 DC. I was going to be bitter at him! Glad to see it’s some other DB.

Yes, I saw this segment and I really wanted to strangle this guy through the television. I agree, Savage did a great job of mopping the floor with this crap sack biggot and I’m glad he didn’t let him speak his homophobic remarks. Perhaps he should take advice from the weatherman version of himself.
