President-Elect to retain “-Elect” distinction well into Presidency

In a surprise move by President Elect Obama on Inauguration Day, the President Elect decided to retain his pre-inauguration title, in one of the first marked changes from prior presidential practice.

Citing recent psychological studies in which any plan referred to as the “President’s Plan for the Economy” or “President’s Plan for the War” induced mass panic in subjects and a general run on the hills, the President Elect stated that retaining the “-Elect” distinction would allow real, workable changes to be put into effect during the time that hearing about any of “the President’s” actions still induced involuntary shudders in listeners.

“This is a temporary measure meant to relieve the working class,” the President Elect told onlookers during the announcement.  ”Working families should remember that there is nothing inherently evil about the title, and know that I anticipate accepting the title of President as soon as a reasonable gap of time separates Americans from the past 8 years of the presidency.”
